Flashlight brightness indicates the maximum light output of a flashlight, measured in lumens (lm). The higher the lumen output, the more light the flashlight produces and the larger the area it can illuminate.

How to choose the right brightness?

• Up to 300 lm — for everyday use, home, car and short distances.
• 300–1000 lm — a versatile range for EDC, hiking, camping and outdoor activities.
• 1000–3000 lm — powerful illumination for large areas, forests, camping and search tasks.
• Over 3000 lm — extremely powerful light for specialized and professional applications.

Important: maximum brightness does not always mean a longer beam distance. Beam distance also depends on the optics, beam pattern and reflector design.

The IP rating indicates how well a product is protected against the ingress of dust and water. Higher numbers indicate a higher level of protection against the corresponding element.

Rating explained

IP66 — completely dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets from any direction. Suitable for rain, outdoor use, hiking and humid environments. Not designed for immersion in water.

IP67 — completely dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water. A good choice for outdoor use where accidental immersion may occur.

IP68 — completely dust-tight and protected against prolonged immersion in water. The permitted depth and duration of immersion are specified by the manufacturer. An excellent choice when maximum water protection is required.

IPX4 — protected against water splashes from any direction. No dust protection rating is specified. Suitable for everyday use and protection against rain.

IPX7 — protected against temporary immersion in water. No dust protection rating is specified.

IPX8 — protected against prolonged immersion in water under conditions specified by the manufacturer. No dust protection rating is specified.

How to choose?

For everyday use and protection against rain, IPX4 or IP66 is usually sufficient. If the product may accidentally fall into water, choose IP67 or IPX7. For maximum water protection, look for IP68 or IPX8.

If dust protection is important, choose a product with a first digit of 6, such as IP66, IP67 or IP68.
